In a recent incident, a customer was left astonished by the unprofessional behavior of an e-hailing driver who scolded her for booking a short ride. The incident occurred when the customer shared her experience on the local Facebook page Meanwhile In Malaysia.

According to the customer's post, the driver questioned her decision to book a ride for such a close distance, suggesting that she should have walked instead and used the opportunity to exercise. The customer, taken aback by the driver's comments, shared screenshots of their conversation, expressing her surprise and explaining that she booked the ride to save time in the hot weather.

Caused by Unprofessional Behavior

However, the situation escalated when the driver took to his own Facebook account to demand an apology from the customer and requested the immediate deletion of her post. He threatened to file a police report and sue her for breaching his privacy if she failed to comply within 24 hours.

There have been no further updates on the matter, and the customer's post remains visible on Facebook.

Why Professionalism is Important

Unprofessional behavior, as displayed by the driver, can have significant negative impacts on the brand or company. It tarnishes the brand's reputation, as customers may associate the driver's behaviour with the company's overall quality of service. It could lead to a loss of trust and credibility in the brand, resulting in a decline in customer loyalty and potential business opportunities.

Professionalism includes:

  • Treating customers with respect.
  • Refraining from offensive or rude behavior.
  • Resolving any issues or conflicts calmly and professionally.

The incident involving the e-hailing driver and the customer serves as a reminder of the importance of professionalism in any line of work. Maintaining a professional attitude and demeanor towards customers is crucial for building trust and providing a positive experience.

By upholding professionalism, businesses and service providers can enhance their reputation and foster long-term customer relationships.
